Keeping Your Baby Safe in Your Home

There are so many little things that can cause danger for our children.  There are the small things that we do not even realize are there that can be the most dangerous.

Things like electrical outlets.  They make special covers to place over them so that children do not stick their finger inside it and get shocked.

Another danger is the cords on window blinds.  It is important to have these cords and strings hung up so that a small child cannot get to them.

There may be some children that want to chew on the cords and may choke on them and other that may get tangled up in the string and hang them.  You can hang them up on a nail or on the windowsill so that a child cannot reach them.

Corners on furniture are another bad thing to hurt our children.  When a child is crawling around and learning to walk, these may be danger for them.  There are special corner guards that we can place over any sharp or hard corners on our furniture to help protect babies when they are first learning to stabilize on their own.

Keep plants up off the floor when you have a small baby in the home.  These can be a huge attraction for some kids and they may want to play in the dirt.  However, some plants are very unsafe for pets and children and that is why it is important to keep them up out of reach.

Lamp cords should be tucked away safely too.  You do not want your baby to pull on the cord and accidentally knock the lamp over on top of them.  This can cause for a serious accident in the home.  You can tuck them behind furniture or keep them pushed back so that they child cannot reach it.

Keep small objects off the floor. It is easy to drop an earring or something small on the floor and never notice it.  However, you will be surprised at what a baby will find when they are crawling around on the floor.  Make sure that you do a good check each times you leave your child go on the floor.  It will only take a second for the baby to choke on just about anything.
